Attendees

Allyson Small Kristi Cobb Susan Harris Heather McMann

Charlene Vollmering Katie Hundley Christine Johnson Jackie Hamilton

Dr. Finch Randy Stolle Julie Holt Amy Martin

Julie Pfund Crystal Michalak Katherine Ehrhardt

Welcome - The meeting was called to order by Allyson Small at 9:03am. Julie Holt motioned to approve last month's meeting minutes. Allyson seconded. All were in favor and the motion carried.

President’s Report - Allyson reports that there are only a couple more PTO meetings this school year. The glow dance was successful. The 8th grade shirts should be ready soon. The increased cost of shirts made a huge difference to help cover the cost of pizza. Allyson will be planning the spring custard party. Third quarter coverage will be requested to reward the teachers. Fiesta de Hornets will be May 7th.

Treasurer’s Report - Kristi Cobb discussed the financial statement from February 2025. Amy Martin motioned to approve the budget, and Julie Holt seconded the motion. All were in favor, and the motion carried.

Principle/Administrator’s Report - Dr. Finch spoke about the tardy parties. She has allocated all of the site-based funds money. She bought robot brains and parts for the STEM club and 5 computers and keyboards for digital music class. She upgraded the sound system in the gym. Music stands were purchased for the band and guitar stands. She purchased 3D printers for STEM and robotics, and it's the same one that is at Indy. She bought the school 14 new document readers/cameras due to the computers being updated to Windows 12, and the old ones were no longer compatible. The library is getting a 75” tv to use instead of the current projector. She bought furniture for the SPED classroom, and more clay was purchased for the art department. There needs to be approximately $30,000 budgeted for the library furniture.

Committee Reports

  • VP of Events - Katie hosted a successful glow dance. It was awesome. There was a record cleanup time. 8th Grade formal is Saturday, May 10th from 6-8pm…starry night, varsity nights, or golden era. The 8th graders will vote on the theme in the coming weeks.
  • Membership - Crystal has nothing to report.
  • Hospitality - Today is another teacher appreciation day. Pizza and veggies.

  • Corporate Sponsors - Amy Martin has nothing new to report.
  • Communications - Julie Pfund needs a student council photo in their new shirts. Julie will post a link of teacher favorites.
  • Front Office/Badges - Charlena has the last date for volunteer badge making today. Volunteer badges can be made at any school because Friday doesn’t work with everyone’s schedule.
  • Copy Room - There is a signup genius with dates to volunteer in the copy room.
  • Spiritwear/School Supplies - School supply store is open for students/parents to purchase their supplies for next school year. The link will be on the website, and the supplies can be purchased until June 1st.
  • Beautification - Katherine still wants to update the front conference rooms. She has Thompson Station Church signed up to volunteer on the HMS campus with spring cleaning on March 30th from 2-4pm. They will help pressure wash siding and sidewalks. They will help remove grass clippings, weeding, front planters and much more! She will consider the Lawn Barbers for fresh mulch after the church does their cleanup day. Allyson wants to do a concession cleanout on March 30th, too,
  • HMS Athletics - Julie Holt has nothing to report other than adding concessions for soccer games. It has been hard to find volunteers to cover the shifts.
  • Concessions - Jackie and Amanda are not buying anymore concessions since stuff will start expiring.
  • Lost and Found - Amanda will bag up the lost and found, and it will be donated next week.

New Business

  • Board nominations are coming up. Allyson has found a lady that can do communications next year from HES. Kristi Cobb motioned to elect the board in May instead of April, and Amy Martin seconded the motion. All were in favor and the motion carried.
  • Sarah Fischer asked for some support with “thank you” bags for the STEM judges. It is April 5th.
  • Mr. Ritterskamp wants to reward the classes that brought in the most for the food drive, and asks if the PTO could help him.
  • Dan Hollinsworth has mentioned that the PTO could offer selling yard signs for 8th grade families to purchase for their promotion.
  • Dan Hollinsworth has gotten a quote on an outdoor storage facility and concrete. The storage shed is 24’ 30’ x 10’. It would cost $14,907 plus the cost of gravel. Gravel would cost ~$200-$300 for 2 dump trucks of gravel. It would replace the two small sheds that are currently on property. The cost would be split into thirds between the PTO, the School and Athletics. The PTO approved spending $11,000 to purchase the building.
  • Randy Stolle will be having a water balloon launcher. He bet the students a reward if they brought in more food during the food drive than last year, and he lost. The school brought in another recording breaking amount of pounds this year.
